There’s a verse in the Bible that has always stopped me in my tracks. Matthew 25:40 says: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
Think about that for a second—Jesus is literally saying that how we treat others is how we treat Him. That’s powerful. That’s challenging. And honestly? That’s life-changing.
In a world where everyone is fighting to be noticed, to be seen, to be “enough,” Jesus flips the script. He tells us to look for the overlooked. To love the people who may never say “thank you.” To extend kindness when nobody is watching. Because in God’s eyes, every act of compassion becomes part of our testimony—our story of faith lived out loud.
So what does this mean for daily life?
- At school: Sit with the person who eats alone. Offer encouragement to the classmate who just bombed their test.
- At work: Smile at the coworker who feels invisible. Show patience when others are rude.
- On social media: Instead of tearing others down, use your voice to build up, share encouragement, and spread light.
These small moments are kingdom work. They’re the proof of a faith that doesn’t just live in church on Sunday, but walks boldly into Monday hallways, Friday night football games, or late-night group chats.
When we choose to live out Matthew 25:40, we’re not just being “nice”—we’re representing Jesus Himself. And people notice. Our testimony isn’t just the words we speak, but the love we give.
So here’s the challenge: This week, find “the least of these” in your world. Be the one who sees them. Love them like Jesus does. Because when you do, you’re not only changing their life—you’re showing the world who He really is.
